9 Undeniable Habits That No Idahoan Can Ever Unlearn

Image
You can take the Idahoan out of the state but you can’t take the state out of the Idahoan. That is one statement that most people who were born and raised in the Gem State will agree with. We enjoy doing things a certain way here in Idaho. These habits are so ingrained in us that we find them pretty difficult to unlearn. How many of these nine undeniable habits have you caught yourself doing? 1. Valuing function over fashion. Idahoans are prepared for any circumstance and any change of weather. You sure as heck won't find a true Idahoan under-dressed in the winter and vice versa for summer. We're not too concerned with the latest fashion trends, but we are concerned with dressing comfortably. 2. Greeting strangers on the street. Here in Idaho, we're friendly to our neighbors. We wave and greet strangers as we pass them on the street, even if that means just giving someone a quick head nod in their direc...

10 Privileges Idahoans Have That The Rest Of The U.S. Doesn’t

Image
If you were born and raised in the great state of Idaho, chances are you’re already well-aware of the unique privileges that come with living in the Gem State. There are some things that we experience here that the rest of the country just doesn’t get. That’s what makes living in Idaho such a treat! We compiled a list of 10 perks of living in Idaho but the list is truly endless. Take a look: 1. We experience all four seasons...sometimes in the same day. Idaho weather is known for being relatively mild and we even get to experience four distinct seasons. Unlike some places where summer turns into winter and turns back into summer, Idaho actually experiences lovely spring and fall seasons as well. Okay, so sometimes Idaho can be confused about what season it currently is (like snowing during summer, for example), but that's okay. It keeps things interesting. 2. Forests and mountains are always a short drive away. ...

9 Reasons Why People From Idaho Are The Best Kind Of People You’ll Ever Meet

Image
Living in Idaho requires a unique type of person. This only makes sense considering our state is such a one-of-a-kind destination! The list could go on and on about what makes people in Idaho some of the best people you’ll ever meet. However, we narrowed it down to nine main characteristics. Check them out below. 1. First of all, we're always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether you're stuck in a pile of snow or you need to borrow a cup of sugar, Idahoans have got you covered. Here in Idaho, neighbors are actually neighborally and that's something we're immensely proud of. 2. We're proud of our roots. There's a reason people who are born in Idaho tend to stick around for the entirety of their lives. Idahoans are full of pride when it comes to the Gem State. Even if we live somewhere else for a short while, nothing compares to home. 3. We enjoy the scenic route. ...

9 Stereotypes About Idaho That Need To Be Put To Rest – Right Now

Image
Remember when you were a kid and you were told that it wasn’t nice to stereotype people? So why would you stereotype a state? There are more than a few outrageous rumors floating around about Idaho and the people who live here. We collected nine of the most famous ones so that they can finally be put to rest. These stereotypes are just that—stereotypes. By no means do they reflect our entire state, so maybe think twice when you catch yourself giving into one! 1. All Idahoans are either potato farmers... Indeed, potatoes are one of our state's most important crops when it comes to the agricultural industry. In fact, more than 320,000 acres of land are used to grow potatoes every year. But no, we don't ALL work on potato farms. That would just be ridiculous. 2. ...or rednecks. Sure, Idaho is a red state but that doesn't make everyone who lives here a redneck. You MIGHT come across some Bud Light lovin...

14 Reasons Why People From Idaho Are Unbelievably Tough

Image
Every Idahoan knows that living in this amazing state is not for the faint of heart. We deal with a variety of unique rural challenges on a daily basis that pampered, big-city easterners couldn’t possibly understand. Truth be told, you have to be a tough cookie to handle what we do. Here are the top reasons why people from Idaho are raised with some extra grit. 1. Getting our hands dirty doesn't faze us one bit. From growing our own food, to building barns and putting up fences, calloused hands are a sign of a life well-lived. 2. Throwing thousands of hay bales every season gives us a little extra backbone, too. (It's not as easy as we make it look). 3. Meeting a bull face-to-face is just as terrifying in a rodeo ring as it is back at the ranch. It takes some serious guts to look a 2,500-pound beast with a temper in the eye every morning... and still walk into a bull-riding r...
