Donnelly’s Annual Huckleberry Festivalcelebrates a wild treat growing in Idaho. If you ask any Idahoan what their favorite berry is, you can bet what their answer is going to be: the huckleberry. For many folks living in the state, huckleberry hunting is a treasured summertime tradition. We have stockpiles of gallon-sized bags of these delicious berries hanging out in our freezer, holding onto hope that they will last through the winter. Huckleberry pie, huckleberry ice cream, huckleberry jam. We seriously can’t get enough. Heck, there’s even a huckleberry festival that takes place in Donnelly every summer. The event is a timeless tradition that everyone should experience, and if you go once, you’ll go again. Go ahead and express your love for this iconic berry that takes place the second weekend in August every year. The Kuna Caves (or Kuna Cave ) is a lava tube cave south of Kuna, Idaho, with a public entrance, an opening in the ground with a caged ladder leading down into the main cavern. Background The cave is about 50 feet (15 m) deep and runs about a quarter mile north and around 1,000 feet (300 m) south from the entrance. The southern portion of the cave requires crawling through a trench dug out of the clay floor of the cave, leading to a small space approximately 3 feet (0.91 m) wide by 3 feet (0.91 m) tall by 4 feet (1.2 m) long in which you can turn around to return to the main [cavern].
