1. Activity Barn, McCall
Located in the small town of McCall is the ultimate winter destination — the Activity Barn. Here, you can enjoy all of your favorite winter activities including snow tubing, cross-country skiing, fat-tire biking, snowshoeing, and so much more. It’s a day trip destination to get you outdoors and enjoying the winter in Idaho.

2. Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, Sandpoint
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or you just desire a change of pace, Western Pleasure Guest Ranch in Sandpoint is the place to go. Stay in the bed and breakfast or even rent a cabin for a more intimate experience. Then, take a sleigh ride, explore a groomed nordic trail, tackle a winter hike, or even take a guided horseback ride during your stay — the opportunities are endless at this hidden gem in Idaho.

3. Hobo Cedar Grove Botanical Area, near Moscow
Did you know that some of the oldest cedar trees are found in Idaho? The Hobo Cedar Grove Botanical Area is a 240-acre grove of Western Red Cedar Trees near Moscow. This area is not only beautiful, but it’s also fascinating. Many of the trees are more than 500 years old and approximately 10 feet in diameter. This is an excellent place to hike, explore, and find stillness.

4. Pine Flat Hot Springs, Garden Valley
Pine Flat Hot Springs is a beautiful hidden gem near Garden Valley, approximately 90 minutes away from Boise. This waterfall hot spring is the ideal place for a soak, but there is a 0.25-mile hike to reach the pools. These hot springs aren’t large, and even just a few people can make it feel crowded, so we suggest visiting during the week and avoiding the summer months.

5. Silver Creek Preserve, Bellevue
Silver Creek Preserve is the perfect place to find some peace and quiet and immerse yourself in nature. This area is home to all types of wildlife, including more than 150 species of birds. You can spend your time observing wildlife or walking along the boardwalk. Don’t forget a fishing pole, as this is a great destination for a fishing trip!

6. Cress Creek Nature Trail, Near Rexburg
Cress Creek Nature Trail is a hiking trail designed with the entire family in mind. It is only 1.3 miles, features a paved sidewalk, and takes you to some of the most beautiful views of the Snake River and surrounding areas.

7. Baker Lake, Sawtooth National Forest
Baker Lake is a small body of water nestled in the Sawtooth National Forest. To reach this lake, you will have to tackle a trail that's two miles each way, which can be a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, the beauty of the trail will distract you, and the blue lake is the perfect payoff.

8. Blue Heart Springs, Hagerman
Blue Heart Springs is a true hidden gem. This is a hidden swimming hole in Idaho that is most easily accessed by canoe or kayak. Not only is this swimming hole far away from the public eye, but the vibrant blue color of the water is absolutely stunning!

9. Three Island Crossing State Park, Glenns Ferry
Three Island Crossing State Park is one of the most under-appreciated state parks in Idaho. This destination is where you can take a step back in time and view the original wagon ruts left behind by the pioneers traveling on the Oregon Trail. You can also view wagon replicas, explore the Oregon Trail History and Education Center, or tackle one of the hikes in the area. This is also a great camping destination with both campsites and cabins available.

10. Massacre Rocks State Park, American Falls
Massacre Rocks is another lesser-known state park in Idaho. This state park is located in southern Idaho and features unique geology and history. The Snake River runs through the state park, and it has all types of activities for the family, from camping to picnicking. However, if you love to be spooked, this is the place to go in October, as it is believed this state park in Idaho is haunted.

11. Bayview
Tucked away on the southern shore of Lake Pend Oreille is the small town of Bayview. This destination is an excellent getaway when you want to enjoy some quiet. Here, you can visit many of the local shops, spend some time near or on the water, or participate in some of your favorite outdoor activities. Bayview might just be one of the most peaceful small towns in Idaho.

12. Elmer’s Fountain, Mullan
Hidden in the trees near I-90 is the most incredible fountain — Elmer's Fountain. These unique water features were hand-built by silver miner and welder Elmer Almquist to remember some of his closest friends. While these year-round fountains are beautiful in any season, the winter is particularly magical when the water freezes and creates incredible ice formations.

 With nearly 130 soakable hot springs (the most soakable hot springs of any state in the country), there are dozens of destinations to visit.
